Official upbeat for Salvador Benedicto as ‘laswa’ capital

SALVADOR Benedicto Mayor Laurence Marxlen de la Cruz has expressed optimism that his town has a potential of becoming the “laswa” capital of Negros Occidental.

De la Cruz said the locality, given its altitude and the quality of its soil, is capable of producing organic vegetables particularly those used as ingredients for “laswa.”

The dish is a healthy vegetable soup that makes use especially of vegetables grown in the backyard.

These include squash, okra (lady's fingers), eggplant, tugabang (jute leaves), and alugbati (spinach), among others.
